The Station Cafe Turns One

It’s hard to believe The Station Cafe in Kames is already a year old.

In what feels like no time at all, Yvonne and Lana have made the old police station into one of those places that has quickly become part of the local routine — whether that’s a sit-in coffee, a takeaway on the go, or a stop with the kids in tow.

Anyone who’s been in will know it’s got its own friendly feel. There’s space to sit in, outdoor seating for the better days, and a play area that makes life a bit easier for families. It’s the sort of place folk can pop into for five minutes and end up staying longer, which is usually the sign of somewhere doing things right.

Over the past year, The Station Cafe has settled into village life nicely. For locals around Tighnabruaich and Kames, it’s become a handy and welcoming spot to grab a coffee, pick up lunch, or catch up with somebody you were only meant to wave at from across the road. That’s small places for you — no such thing as a quick hello.

A first year in business is no small thing, especially in a rural community where people know good service when they see it and come back when somewhere feels genuine. That support has clearly mattered, and it says a lot about what Yvonne and Lana have built in such a short time.

So here’s to The Station Cafe on its first birthday — and to Yvonne and Lana for bringing new life to an old building in the heart of Kames.

Happy first birthday from all of us locally, and here’s to many more coffees, catch-ups and busy days ahead.
